In recent years, with the implementation of the new national standard and the emergence of new application scenarios such as balance vehicles, scooters, and shared electric bicycles, the electric market and the two-wheeler market have ushered in a new development boom, and lithium batteries are sought after by more and more manufacturers because of their high energy density and many cycles。For different application scenarios, users often need to choose different BMS architectures, such as electric motorcycle needs to achieve higher power, and need to use multiple AFE cascades to support more battery strings;The charge and discharge currents of electric bicycles vary greatly, requiring a separate charge and discharge path to optimize costs。Therefore, the safety of lithium batteries, which are widely used, also requires a more stringent Battery Management System (BMS) to monitor and protect。

The SiLM266x series from Suming Semiconductor offers the flexibility to monitor and protect lithium batteries in different application scenarios, providing reliability and design flexibility for battery system protection。The SiLM2660/61 is a low-power, high-side N-channel FET driver for battery charge/discharge system control. The high-side protection prevents the system's ground pin from disconnecting to ensure continuous communication between the battery pack and the host system。SiLM2660 integrated PACK+ voltage monitoring control, support host sensing PACK+ voltage;It also has an additional PFET control output that allows low-current precharging of deeply discharged batteries。For different customer application requirements, the SiLM266x series offers SiLM2661, a functional simplified version of SiLM2660, SiLM2661 does not have pre-charge and battery PACK+ voltage detection function, and is packaged in SOP8。The SiLM2660 is packaged in TSOP-16。It can be widely used in various scenarios in industrial and energy fields, such as: electric bicycles, electric scooters, electric motorcycles, energy storage systems and uninterruptible power supplies, portable medical systems, wireless base station battery systems, lead-acid backup batteries, 12V to 48V battery packs, etc。

The SiLM266x series has a separate enable input interface that allows the battery charging FETs and discharge FETs to be independently controlled on and off。For some application scenarios, such as the electric bicycle charge and discharge current difference is large, you can set a separate charge and discharge path to optimize the cost。General electric vehicle lithium battery pack charging current is smaller than the discharge current, if the use of charge and discharge with the same port scheme, you need to choose more charging MOSFETs than the actual demand, will cause unnecessary waste。In addition, whether it is charging or discharging, all the current needs to pass through the charging MOSFETs and discharge MOSFETs, which will produce more loss and heat, and also reduce the effective capacity of the battery to a certain extent。The charge and discharge interface scheme can select the number and model of the charging MOSFETs and discharge MOSFETs according to the actual charge and discharge current needs, whether it is charging or discharging, it only passes through the first-level MOSFETs, and the loss and heating are less。The SiLM266x series supports both the above charging and discharging schemes and different charging and discharging schemes to meet the different needs of customers。
